White House: Obama’s Foreign Policies Have Substantially Improved Global ‘Tranquility,’ Reality Begs To Differ

It’s been three and a half weeks, but Josh Earnest has finally gone full Stepford.

At a press conference Monday, in answer to a plethora of Foreign Policy Fail questions from various news outlets Mr. Earnest stated (with a straight face, I might add) that Obama’s foreign policies have enhanced the world’s “tranquility.

No.  Really.

White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Monday the Obama administration’s foreign policies in a number of areas have enhanced the world’s “tranquility” – a word that raised eyebrows as reporters pointed to situations in Gaza, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Ukraine and the South China Sea.

More than one reporter during Monday’s press briefing referred to a front-page Wall Street Journal article highlighting some of those crises, and citing security strategists as saying “the breadth of global instability now unfolding hasn’t been seen since the late 1970′s.”

“How does the White House react to the notion that the president is a bystander to all these crises?” asked Fox News’ Ed Henry, citing the widening gaps between the sides in the Iranian nuclear talks, the conflict in and around Gaza, and the Syrian civil war.

“I think that there have been a number of situations in which you’ve seen this administration intervene in a meaningful way, that has substantially furthered American interests and substantially improved the, uh, you know, the – the tranquility of the global community,” Earnest replied.

Carney would be proud…  If one were to believe the verbal pixie dust being sprinkled by this Administration, since being elected in 2008 Obama single-handedly healed the Earth’s woe’s.  He has cooled soaring global temperatures, turned back rising tides, ended poverty in Africa, and brought peace to the Middle East.  In all the worlds in all the universe, no other creature can make such a boastsave Obama.

Let’s take a look at some of Mr. Earnest’s “tranquility,” shall we?

As mentioned above, the Wall Street Journal reported that “the breadth of global instability now unfolding hasn’t been seen since the late 1970s.”  From his betrayal of Britain for “New START” to the moving red lines of Syria, Obama has an embarrassing track record when it comes to foreign policy.

According to the WSJ, Obama’s timeline of Foreign Policy Failure includes:  renewed outbreaks of violence between Israel and the Palestinians, civil war in Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Russia annexing Crimea and now stalking the Ukrainian borders, Iran’s nuclear aspirations, and China looking to branch out.

What wasn’t included in that long list of “tranquility?”   Just to name a few – the tsunami of illegal immigrants flooding over the U.S. border and the drama unfolding in the Socialist Utopia of Venezuela.

I think Josh may need to rethink his definition of tranquility.
