Sunday at the 2014 VMAs right after spinning on a stripper pole, Queen Bey herself paid her dancers the same as her. Wait, strike that, instead she stood by a word.  Bey Feminism

Powerful right? Just to remind folks, here’s Beyonce earlier in that performance posing with her dancers and their wage gaps.

So the next day at the Emmy’s, as part of a joke playing on the obvious attractiveness of Sofia Vergara, she posed fully dressed on a pedestal.

The reactions

Horror from Jarret Wieselman from Buzzfeed. Oddly enough this was his reaction to Beyonce’s performance.

If feminism is about anything, its about having agency so lets check with Ms Vergara.

Yet when asked whether the stunt was sexist and demeaning, Vergara shot back: “I think its absolutely the opposite. It means that somebody can be hot and also be funny and make fun of herself. I think it’s ridiculous that somebody started this—I know who she was—who has no sense of humor [and should] lighten up a little bit.”

Not really seeing how these two things relate to one another. Is it just that both featured women in revealing outfits? I’m confused about how this represents hypocrisy for the writers you quote above. Is it your belief that feminists who don’t condemn all scanty female attire are hypocrites?

You’re not seeing it? Beyonce does a stripper routine and is lauded as a feminist icon. Sofia Vergara stands on a pedestal during a boring speech and this is somehow sexist and offensive.
Yes, I think it’s fair to say that if a woman in a ball gown at the Emmys is offensive to feminists, then consistency demands they scold Beyonce for her show. Or, if Beyonce is inoffensive and empowering, then they should really not have any issue with a woman who is confident and assured enough to be part of a harmless joke during a boring awards show.

This article is pure “click bate”. Beyonce is doing what Beyonce wants. This is what she wants. Article upon article dissecting her every move, lyric, and statement. This is her ART. You will see what you want. If you do a quick Google search about Beyonce’s Feminism at the VMA’s you get nearly 9.4 million hits.

You’re playing right into the entertainment machine that keeps running on full spin cycle and never stops. Making her more powerful and notorious.

Pure and simple people manipulate people everyday. That’s why life so is challenging yet interesting. Beyonce just manipulated the hell out of everyone so people can write and sell their opinion. You will either have people tearing her down or building her up depending on how they interpret and personally experience her ART. Remember SEX sells. Now who’s the “Feminist”?
