Farewell And Thanks For The Memories!

Folks, it has been a blast. But the time has come to close the chapter on this site. We did a lot of great work here and I had a lot of fun working with everybody. I want to thank everybody who had  a hand in this venture. And that means everybody. Whether you posted once or a hundred times. Seriously, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.  You’ll find many of the same people writing great stuff over at this new place called: View From The Cheap Seats There will still be politics there but also posts about movies, music, sports, etc. It’s going to be fun. Go check it out!...

Track Records Count: Rick Perry On The Economy

There has been a lot of talk about Donald Trump around here as of late. One of the reasons is I think there are so many better candidates out there people can and should support. One of those is Rick Perry. Contrary to what is being said around social media and even in the mainstream media about immigration, it remains below a number of other issues that Americans rank as important. Nothing is more important to the electorate right now than the economy and jobs. It’s easy to talk about how to create jobs and how to implement policies that allow the economy to flourish. Texas is the state that fueled much of the economy in the United States in the last 15 years and Rick Perry was there for it all. Here are some eye popping statistics: Texas Added 2,214,900 Jobs Under Governor Perry. In December 2000 Texas had 9,534,600 non-farm jobs. In December 2014 Texas had 11,749,500 non-farm...

Telling The Truth About Trump Is Not Why We Lose

I am happy to say that I was out in front of telling conservatives to rid themselves of the stench of Donald Trump over a year ago. Here is some of what I wrote: There is no nice way to say this: Donald Trump is a clown. He’s a charlatan who cares about one thing, and one thing only: Donald Trump. and I’ve never taken Trump seriously, and I have no fears at all about him winning the GOP nomination in 2016. But it’s increasingly difficult to take seriously the organizations and media outlets that allow this buffoon to pretend he’s actually a conservative. If they’re stupid enough to buy the snake oil he’s selling, I don’t want any part of it. I am still not worried about him winning the nomination. Despite his current numbers, the fanfare will wear off after some time. We saw the same thing play itself out in 2011. It may go longer this time largely because people already have a...

Yes, Your Taxes Do Fund Planned Parenthood Abortions

By on Jul 31, 2015 | 5 comments

In 1976, the House of Representatives passed the so-called ‘Hyde Amendment’, essentially barring the use of taxpayer dollars from being used to pay for abortions. Here is a more detailed description: In U.S. politics, the Hyde Amendment is a legislative provision barring the use of certain federal funds to pay for abortion unless the pregnancy arises from incest, rape, or to save the life of the mother. The Hyde Amendment is not a permanent law, but rather is a “rider” that in various forms has been routinely attached to annual appropriations bills since 1976. Legislation including the Hyde Amendment generally only restricts the use of funds allocated for the Department of Health and Human Services and primarily affects Medicaid. The amendment, named for late Illinois Congressman Henry Hyde has long been used to taxpayer dollars from directly funding abortions....

Ready For Chillary!

So Hillary is trying to reach out to younger voters and in a recent Vine talked about how she was “chilling” in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It was lame of course and on the advice of Amy Otto, I spruced it up and here it is: Trouble!
